Overnight HRV
Your watch takes heart rate variability readings while you sleep. Fullday averages the night's readings into one number for the morning, and it counts for the most. Plews 2013 · HRV trends.
Recovery · no extra hardware
If you wear an Apple Watch, you already have the sensor. Fullday reads its overnight HRV, resting heart rate and sleep through Apple Health and scores your recovery for free. No strap, no ring, no membership.
Recovery, Strain and Sleep scores: free, no time limit, no account

What you need
A recovery score is mostly careful arithmetic on what your heart does overnight. Apple Watch already measures that and saves it to Apple Health.
iOS 17 or later. Apple Health is already on it.
Worn to bed. The Fullday watch app needs watchOS 11 or later: Series 6 and later, SE 2nd generation, every Ultra.
Free to download, with nothing to sign in to. Connect Apple Health on first open and it reads your history to build your baselines.
If your watch has been saving to Apple Health, your first scores don't wait: Fullday counts the nights and heart data Apple Health holds, then scores your day from them.

Three readings, each against your own last 30 days, not an average of other people.

Apple Health keeps a resting heart rate for each day. Below your normal counts in your favour; above it counts against you.
The watch's sleep stages become a sleep score from 0 to 100: duration, efficiency, restfulness, consistency, deep sleep and REM. How sleep is scored
Together they make Recovery, from 1 to 99, in three zones: Take it easy, Steady and Recovered. Beside it, Strain tracks the day's load from your workouts and activity, and Sleep shows last night in one number. Recovery on Apple Watch, in detail
Nothing extra to wear, and nothing to renew for the scores. Pro is there if you want the coaching.

Overnight HRV only exists on nights the watch is on your wrist. Charge it in the evening or while you get ready in the morning, so there's battery for the night.
In the Health app's sleep settings, check that Apple Watch is set to track your sleep, so the night reaches Apple Health and Fullday can score it.
Starting with little history, Fullday says it's still learning your normal. Scores firm up after a week of overnight heart data.
No. Fullday works out Recovery from the overnight HRV, resting heart rate and sleep that Apple Watch saves to Apple Health. If you don't have a watch either, an iPhone alone still logs training, food, GPS runs and sleep, but Recovery needs overnight heart data.
Yes, if its app saves sleep and heart data to Apple Health: those nights feed your Sleep and Recovery scores too. Each device's readings are set against that device's own normal, and two devices are never added together. Fullday doesn't connect to them directly. See what works with Fullday.
No. Recovery, Strain and Sleep scores are free, with no time limit. Fullday Pro is optional: $59.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, $9.99 a month, or $179.99 once, with nothing to renew. Apple handles payment.
There's no account, no ads and no tracking. Your scores are worked out on your iPhone and Apple Watch, what Fullday reads from Apple Health never goes to iCloud, and health data is never sold or used for ads. Our privacy promise.
Fullday is for general wellness, not a medical device: its scores never diagnose anything.
