Notifications, explained

Your morning score, meal and bedtime reminders.

Last night's sleep score and recovery at your wake-up, a nudge to log each meal that skips itself once you have, and a check-in at bedtime. All free, made on your phone, and each one yours to move or switch off.

Fullday's Today screen: Good morning, Grant. Three score rings, each on its chart: Recovery 91%, 32 above your normal; Strain 5.7, aim 14–18; Sleep 92, 8 h 11 m asleep; then today's plan, Pull Day.
Tonight on Apple Watch: bed 10:30 PM to the alarm at 6:30 AM, 8 h in bed against a goal of 8 h 20 min, wind-down from 9:30 PM, and smart wake under it.

What comes, and when.

Each one follows your sleep schedule or your own habits, and stays quiet when it has nothing to say.

Good morning

At your wake-up: "Good morning — Sleep 92 · Excellent", then time asleep against your usual and today's recovery when there is one. With Apple Health on, it waits up to 45 minutes for last night to arrive; if it doesn't, a plain good morning comes instead. One a day, and none if you're already in the app looking at your score.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner

"Log breakfast? Same as last time? Oatmeal + Coffee." Once Fullday knows when you usually log a meal (four days in four weeks), the nudge comes half an hour after, so only when you're running late. Skipped once that meal is logged, and while a fast is running.

Bedtime

A wind-down reminder before each bedtime on your schedule, "In bed by 10:30 PM · alarm 6:30 AM", and at bedtime "How was today?". Pick Great, Okay or Rough day from the notification, or Going to Bed to start the sleep timer. Skipped on days you've already checked in.

Without a sleep schedule

The morning comes at 7:00 AM and the check-in at 10:30 PM. Meals start at 8:00 AM, 12:30 PM and 6:30 PM until Fullday learns your times.

Without Apple Health

The morning asks "How did you sleep? Tap to check in." instead. If your watch stopped recording early, it says so rather than giving a score.

Hold a meal reminder

Log again adds that meal as you last had it, without opening the app, and never twice in a day. Open Eat goes straight to logging.

Why a well-timed nudge helps.

Knowing you should log meals and keep regular sleep is easy. Remembering at the right moment is the hard part.

Plans tied to a moment

Across 94 tests, "if it's this time, I'll do that" plans had a medium-to-large effect on reaching goals, helping most with getting started. Gollwitzer & Sheeran 2006.

Logging is the habit

In a review of 22 studies, keeping track of what you eat was consistently linked with weight loss, though the studies had real limits. Burke 2011.

Prompts can help

Of 19 studies of regular prompts for diet, activity or weight, 11 found they helped, more so when frequent. Long-term effects weren't studied. Fry & Neff 2009.

Regular sleep times

In 60,977 adults wearing a wrist sensor, more regular sleep was linked with a 20–48% lower risk of death than the least regular, and predicted it better than sleep length. Windred 2024.

How to change or turn them off.

In Fullday, open Me, then Notifications. Every notification Fullday sends is listed there with its own switch.

Turn one off

Good morning, each meal, the bedtime check-in and the wind-down reminder each have their own switch. Switching one off leaves the others alone.

Move it

Set your own time for the morning, each meal and the check-in, or put it back to following your schedule or your log.

Wind-down timing

When your wind-down routine starts, at bedtime, or 15, 30 or 60 minutes before. A nudge at each wind-down step is off until you turn it on, and arrives silently.

Quiet weekends

No meal or bedtime nudges on Saturday and Sunday. The morning still comes.

Nothing until you allow it

None of them comes until you allow notifications. They're informational, so a Focus can hold them back.

The only notification that mentions your cycle, "Period likely soon", is off until you turn it on, because its words show on the Lock Screen. On Android the same reminders and switches apply, each type with its own channel in Android's settings. See also the Sleep page and Eat page.

Questions about Fullday's reminders.

When does the morning sleep score notification come?

At the wake-up on your sleep schedule, or at a time you set. If last night is already in Apple Health, it comes then; if not, Fullday waits up to 45 minutes before sending a plain good morning. You get one a day.

Will I get a meal reminder after I've already logged?

No. Each meal's reminder is skipped once that meal is logged, on your phone or your watch, and none come while a fast is running.

Can I stop the reminders on weekends?

Yes. Turn on Quiet weekends in Me → Notifications: no meal or bedtime nudges on Saturday and Sunday. The morning notification still comes.

Are the reminders part of Fullday Pro?

No. The morning, meal, bedtime and wind-down reminders are free. Only the reminders to fuel before a plan's long sessions are Pro, and they're off until you turn them on.

Does Fullday send these from a server?

No. Every one is made on your phone at the times in Me → Notifications, and those settings stay on that phone.
